Let’s close this mini-series on strength with a poem I wrote a few years back. If you forget everything else, just remember to reside in strength in the heart of the storm.

Strength…
Strength is not the absence of weakness
It is standing when your knees are weak, and hoping when all is bleak
Strength’s eyes laugh while it’s heart cries
On its lips you’ll find smiles, when its tongue is filled with wounds
Strength is not the absence of weakness
But rather the presence of perseverance
To an enemy it says, come have a sit, dine with me
For I will not be shaken by your sting
It is the child that looks straight in the face of adversity and says
I am young but willing to fight
It is that subtle assurance in a storm
That everything is going to be okay
Strength is losing and yet knowing you have won
It is picking yourself up piece by piece and loving yet again
Strength is not the absence of weakness
It’s simply the presence of strength
-the end-
Until next time, I will keep you in my heart and mind.
